Job Description

Position Overview:
Greets and responds to all customers in a courteous and friendly manner while providing back up and support to the full time Team Members.  Ensures proper merchandise presentation. Operates cash register and stocks shelves in accordance with policies and procedures. Maintains a clean work area at all times. Provides customer service according to the SWAN program guidelines. 
  • Understands Customer Service as a number one priority and responds to Customer Service requests immediately. 
  • Demonstrates courtesy, friendliness, professionalism and provides prompt and efficient responses to customers at all times.
  • Greets all customers within 10 feet, says 'hello' and 'thank you' at every register transaction and processes register transactions with a sense of urgency. Takes accurate markdowns, counts and inventories as scheduled. 
  • Assists in unloading shipments quickly, accurately and safely so that merchandise is received and checked-in efficiently with minimum damage.  Reports any discrepancies in freight shipments to Store Manager immediately.
  • Responsible to tag, sign and/or label and stock merchandise quickly and accurately as instructed so that merchandise is on display for the customer.
  • Retrieves merchandise from the stockroom to the sales floor and will return overstocked merchandise to the proper location in the stockroom.
  • Disposes of empty boxes, packaging and trash properly as per the store's procedures.
  • Maintain a safe and hazard free working area so that customer and team member accidents are minimized.
  • Assists in maintaining stockroom areas of the store including break room, rest rooms, and all other adjoining non-sales areas so that merchandise and equipment is stored properly and the areas are clean and neat.
  • Assists with the completion of the Weekly Price Changes as directed by Store Manager. 
  • Conducts inventory count adjustments as directed by Store Manager. 
  • Assists with ad set up and takedown.
  • Assists in building and maintaining monthly and/or special merchandise displays.
  • Report out-of-stocks to Department Expert(s) or Store Manager. 
  • Assists in implementing and maintaining all store planograms.

Loss Prevention Awareness
  • Maintains a high level of awareness and customer contact on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment. 
  • Understands the Loss Prevention Awareness program and procedures.
  • Maintains a safe working and shopping environment for team members and customers.
  • Reports any unsafe conditions or practices to store management. 
  • Follows all Out-of-Stock policies, including the identification of damaged merchandise, proper processing of each piece and the notification of store management to review and approve all disposals. 
  • Ability to operate a cash register and understands all policies and procedures concerning cash, check, charge card and refund transactions, voids and offline procedures.
  • Maintains a high level of awareness and accuracy when handling bankable tenders. 
  • Ability to follow directives when stocking shelves.

Skill & Educational Requirements:
  • Must be 16 years of age or older.
  • H.S. graduate or equivalent recommended, unless the team member is a H.S. student. 
  • Ability to work retail hours, which may include rotating schedules nights, weekends, holidays and some overtime. 
  • Prior sales experience in a retail preferred 
  • Willingness to work in a team environment 
  • Proven record of consistently providing positive customer experiences. 
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Strong attention to detail. 
  • Professional, neat appearance. 
  • Ability to pass a complete background verification including but not limited to: Education, Employment and Criminal. 
  • Must possess the ability to speak, write and read English.
  • Possess the ability to operate electronic equipment, including cash register.
  • Ability to perform basic math skills, add, divide, subtract, multiply.

  • Constant standing/walking

  • Constant computer/POS Register usage.  
  • Constant reaching, turning, and moving product through out store.
  • Constant receiving detailed information through oral communication. 
  • Constant talking, expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word
